The Great Lady Blue Heron

Her sinuous neck silhouettes

against the evening sky

as she progresses with determination

towards the waters of self reflection

Her reflection silent and unmoving,

stares calmly back at her.

What does she see? – past conflicts and ruffled feathers

but bids a peaceful, and proud independence

She evaluates her state

with a contemplative mind

determines her self and spiritual worth

eliminating all distractions of earthly life

The great blue heron has flown into the sun

her choice of flight inscribed on her heart

she wings her way to her realm of election

and there finds peace within her love

Today My Heart Remembered

Thanking God for the gift of memory. Through this precious gift, my heart can still see, hear, feel, and embrace the wonderful ~ treasures of my childhood. Dedicated to my dear mother who suffers with dementia. I will recall and visit your memories, I will tell you your stories so you can visit your precious sun-kissed days.

Today my heart remembered…

Echoes
childhoods past
footprints
in summers
sweet green grass
lazily walking
through fields of wheat
feeling the touch
cool earth on my feet

Untroubled laughter
still winged in the air
carried away
by bluebirds so fare
the songs ~ the carefree
rest in the clouds
released gentle rains
bring rainbows aloud

Splashes of dreams
still ripple in lakes
carried by driftwood
my heart it awakes
reflections in ripples
bless me in poem
through arbor of verse
softly I roam

Sun-kissed days
still shine through greys
stealing small doubts
vining the way
warmth of small smiles
that melt ice of fear
feeling the love
bringing memories near

Blessings
this season
embossed in snowflakes
a gift from my Saviour
His purpose ~ no mistakes
chapters of life
He allows me to share
carefully chosen
gift wrapped with care

Spring Pantoum (Lighting the Lamp of Spring)

My heart lights the lamp of Spring

The flame of promise and poetry

Frequent metaphors words and pantoums

Continual blossoms fragrance anew

The flame of promise and poetry

Igniting brilliant colour of nature

Continual blossoms fragrance anew

Bursts with life on waiting parchment

Igniting brilliant colour of nature

Creations mirage quilled into vision

Bursts with life on waiting parchment

The vessel is blessed it has been used

Creations mirage now quilled into vision

From frequent metaphors words and pantoums

The vessel is blessed for it has been used

My heart lights the lamp of Spring!

The Heart Goes Home For Christmas (Season’s of the Heart)

The Northern lights

they call her home

Cry of the wolf

forlorn he weeps for her

Stars are brilliant with life

awaiting her return

The frozen north anticipates

new breath of life

Warm summer breeze

longs to caress her face

Pulling her back

to familiar senses ~ beings of once a time

Sun kisses northern lakes

in hopes to glimmer the eye

Ache – is strong it pulls the heart

towards the country of sunsets

Tis autumn leaves brilliant

with spectacular shades

Time is short

the chill of winter is lurking

Drawing closer with every eve

restless turns anxious

Will the heart make it

back in time?

Whistling wind brings first snowfall

with flurry it arrives!

A blanket of fresh white linen

covers earth to keep it warm

Reflection dancing lights

twinkle in brilliance against the snow,

For shadows of footprints

 not seen by naked eye

Drifting satisfying from the wind

the soul has come home

She has made it safe

no more her heart will roam!

Hearts Desire (Dreams that are to be)

The heart strolls

through Autumn paths

scuffling through fallen leaves

scattered thoughts

drift through the mind

of a love that

holds no exceptions

knowing that every

breath is determined

journeys mapped

planned with purpose

crisp brittle leaves

dissolve with steps

reminds the heart

not to borrow

from tomorrows sorrow

all is required

is what to live for

so simple

is hearts desire

for all dreams

that are to be

calmly rest

within the Master’s hands

Grandma’s Garden (Graces of Treasured Memories)

As evening shadows start to gather

Tiny gems of twilight dew,

I wend my way towards the garden

In hope for dreams to catch a view.

For once stood rows of garden greens

Flourished with bloom by summers sun,

The earth once moist by heavens rain

I sit and wait for her to come.

I hear now footsteps through the garden

Ever so softly one by one,

In haste I turn to catch a glimpse

To find the morning sun has come!

Ecclesiastes 3:1

To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven:

Although my loving Grandma is singing with the angels ~ she is alive in my heart! A shining light for the gospel of Christ, her testimony of strength and faith in the Lord still encourages my soul today!

From John 3:16 to Joshua 1:9, I can still hear her loving voice asking me to memorize these two verses ~ “they will carry you through life’s trials” she would say, with her tender smile.

Today I wish I had her bible, just so I could scan my fingers over the verses ~ feel the worn pages that were turned from reading her daily bread.

Today I miss my grandma. Today I bow my head in reverence in thankfulness to my Lord.

 Thank you Lord,

for blessing and enriching my childhood with the love of my grandma.

 Thank you Lord,

for the graces of treasured memories.

 Thank you Lord,

for tears ~ tears of joy that I have a promise ~ a promise that I will unite with my grandma, in the “Sweet By and By.” On that golden shore I will wrap my arms around this loving dear soul and say thank you!

A special request ~ Dear Lord,

When rewards are handed out to Thy faithful servants, I pray that my loving grandma ~ a true soldier of the cross… with your grace, please place an extra jewel in her crown.

 I remain your faithful servant,

 Amen.

 Joshua 1:9

Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Creation (Celebration of the Seasons)

Amazing how the world began

Vast amid such darken space,

The wonder of infinite creation

How stars were named and placed.

Every creature precisely wrought

Through author precision form,

All earths creatures great and small

From dust to life were born.

No greater wonder to take its place

Within the seven days,

Creation of our mighty universe

How our God chose to display!
