Silent Prayers Of Dementia

There are days when the rays
light the path to expectation
a glimmer of understanding
through a light touch
it thrills my heart
and lets me know
I m not alone

Many are the afternoons
when the clouds gather
I wait to see the break
…oft so many times
they will darken
anxious storms
are near

Lonely nights stretch into days
restless waiting for dreams
exhausted with counting
mirage of shadows
through meshed
confusion my
voice is silent

In this blackness a silent soul
finds an arbour of conveyance
through the dark He walks
holding my hand and
hearing my prayers
silent assurance
set free

Wrote this #poem awhile ago while I stood in the shadows of this giant demon #dementia …. So thankful our dear mother is now at peace ❤ safe within the arms of her Lord and reunited with her family and friends who went before her ❤ Her silent prayers were heard….

In loving memory of my dear mother who passed away July 5, 2017 at 7:30 in the morning while her robins sang a song of peace.

Calvary

From the window
of my heart
my soul is
cast in shadow

The drops of rain
that hit the pane
are flowing
from my eyes

Sensed release
it graces mind
as through life
I cast a glance

I read the chapters
one by one
how each trial
came through the fire

With each dawn
I call upon Calvary
re visit His blood
that covers my sin

Prevailed against
short comings to fault
I reach redemption
silver chord of hope

Spring A New Song

Spring
(A New Song)

Frost chilled windows
embrace the sun
wash the sleep

from Winter’s eyes,

Awaken souls

caressed and kissed

by Heavens dew

alert the heart,

Promise of LIFE

resurrection proclaimed

as earths layers

redeem stubborn sod,

Victorious the bud

gives up to Spring

ablaze with colour

contributing canvas,

Brilliant finale

arrives with song

music on wings

from red breasted one,

Metaphor of Calvary

stirs the soul

attributes of grace

completes makes whole.

Hushed Yesterdays (He that Hath an Ear)

Braille lyrics
to her song
music
her love
melody
of wishes
listen
they speak!

Words
forgotten yet
remembered
in her heart
refrained voice
stanzas of
forget me nots
bouquet of her life!

Fragrance
of beauty
from within without?
compelled to compose
her song!
instrument
of compassion
symphony
of love and life

Refined Rainbows

Amble down
the cobblestones
patterns change
my every step
colours blend with
cold grey stone
crumbling beneath
worn shoes

Pigments mixed
between the cracks
confuse the artist
of the canvas
portrait of the
life now shades
under tones
of sadness

Never change
the canvas
for in it
lies their soul
mix the colours
blend the hues
with fashion
refined rainbows

Love Prevails

Crevices deep within the heart
hold the truest love
a vein of gold the band that holds
around her tiny finger

Worn from years of constant labor
his hand still bears the ring
symbol of infinite affection
constant reminder of true love

Endure through blinding walls of hail
the winds try hard to break the course
love remains their bond of strength
through dementia love prevails

We face many challenges in this life. For richer or poor, in sickness in health…

My parents have faced a lot of uphill climbs throughout their years of dedicated love together.

This recent mountain seems so very steep rugged and sometimes out of reach of the victory at the top of the climb; but today was a “VICTORY’ stop, a rest on their way to the top.
Today my dearest daddy visited his loving wife in her new home Rockwood. Love holds no bounds, even through dementia love was visible.

There are more challenges to face but together as a family our love creates a bond that seems to give strength and courage when you feel you have none left.

Please continue to hold my parents in your thoughts and remember to whisper their names in your prayers.

God Bless
Thank you

The Exchange

Find your compassion, feel the need, express your inner thoughtfulness, and find a dear soul to share it with.

Hold my hand and feel my life
the path though worn is there
Threads of memory still exist
tattered frayed and threadbare

Feel my heart ’tis broken and torn
do you have compassion?
Mend my soul with threads of gold
spun from interaction

Stay awhile to get a sense
why oft times I feel so lost
Now and then you’d never know
the heaviness of my cross

Bring a ray of sunshine with you
melt away the icy fears
Bestow me with the warmth of friendship
exchanging smiles instead of tears
