Valley of Victory

Today I felt the burning sands

the desert before the valley

My heart existent feeling scorched

lay charred by broken embers

Lost within mirage of trust

my soul lay barren of hope

Valley of prayer now draws me in

as life continues to press

Weary soul gives way to HIM

amidst the valley cooling waters

Through earthly defeat and losing self

my soul now claims the win

With battle of thoughts now at an end

the soul drinks deep of victory

Today I felt the burning sands

the desert before my valley

  1. When you know the rest and refreshing that awaits you just ahead in the “valley of victory,” you find a reserve of stamina and endurance you didn’t know you had in you, to make it through that last day or two in the desert. You, just as God does, count it a thing already accomplished. I really enjoyed the phrase you used, ehen you wrote, “With battle of thoughts now at an end the soul drinks deep of victory.” I like that a lot. Great mental imagery in this poem, also!

    • Thank you, Neil! Love this… You, just as God does, count it a thing already accomplished.” battle of the thoughts can be one of the greatest battle ever fought! Inspired by your comments. Blessings 🙂

  2. Kathy – it’s in the valleys where we grow. The higher we climb on a mountain, the more sparse the vegetation until we reach the point above timberline where nothing grows. But the valleys are rich and fertile, filled with living, growing things. And, if it wasn’t for the valleys, we wouldn’t appreciate those mountaintops.

    Blessings!

  3. I have to agree with Kathy , we appreciate the life on the mountain , once we have been to that valley and found that there is a purpose in that place too for a season . we can walk that valley floor know Jesus won the victory for us at Calvary , we just need to walk it out here trusting God as we go forward and once again climb up the mountain for a refreshing view of all that’s around about. Not forgetting we may need to return to show another the way out , of a similar valley. love your poem !
